This thing is amazing. If you get the gimbal to go with it, especially. Either way though, i absolutely love this. It can fly very fast if you want it to, and in gps mode (which only requires the flip of a switch to set up, literally) it’s almost perfectly stable. Even in high winds, it will hover in the same spot within maybe a 2-3ft radius at most. And it has a gps failsafe feature. If you lose control of it or it gets too far away from you, then you can just turn off the controller and it will fly itself back to where it first powered on. I even tested this making it fly back from really far away and against high wind and it worked flawlessly. Just make sure you have an open area to take off/ land if you want to use this because it will land itself within usually 15 feet of where it took off. If you don’t want it to land, then just turn your controller back on and flip the switch from gps to manual mode, and then back to gps and you’re in control again. Very easy to fly and very durable too. Mine was flown into a tree by a friend who wasn’t paying attention to their surroundings, and the thing fell from about 25ft up, and only suffered a broken propeller, which was very easy to swap out. I was back flying in about 90 seconds. Literally.
The Phantom 2 Quadcopter v2.0 features a number of notable hardware updates over the previous Phantom 2 model from DJI, including more efficient motors, redesigned self-tightening props, a new transmitter (radio controller) with built-in battery and gimbal control dial, and other improvements. The Phantom 2 – for those who aren’t familiar – is a quad-rotor UAV aircraft that can be great fun to fly standalone, but more than anything serves as a platform for capturing aerial shots using a GoPro HERO action camera (gimbal and camera available separately). It features a “Smart Battery” with integrated regulation circuitry that provides up to 25 minutes flying time; which is a substantive improvement over the original Phantom’s still respectable 14 minutes.
Props falling off, battery door opens in flight causing crashes, flyaway’s and the delay response from the controller. I receive my Phantom 2 version 2 surprisingly quickly. I’ve flown the Phantom 2 since March 20h this year a total of 52 times with my extra 2 batteries based on the dji software display. This is one of the best machines I’ve own.
